Born in the vibrant city of Port-Sudan by the Red Sea, I moved with my family to Khartoum, where the dusty streets influenced my color palette and the unfinished buildings made their way into my artwork.
I began painting as a way to cope with the social limitations that we, as women, encounter daily. I use oil paint as my main medium to create figurative paintings.
I am often inspired by the integration of figures and buildings, which represent the simple concepts of home and shelter—providing comfort, safety, privacy, and space for work. These concepts were shattered when war against civilians broke out in Khartoum, forcing many families, including my own, to flee their homes and seek shelter in other cities and countries.
