Overview
Art to me is my whole life, and I draw to live and not for anything else.

Omer is a Sudanese artist, born in 1974 in Hillat Abbas countryside at Al-Kamilin Governorate, in the central region of Sudan. He graduated from the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Sudan University of Science and Technology and obtained his masters in Fine Arts from the department of painting in 2010 from the Sudan University of Science and Technology. He held his first exhibition in 1993 in Omdurman, Sudan, in one of its public libraries.

Artist Omar Kamal regards art as the only knowledge in the world in which the artist is always in a state of truth.  Omar uses color in his work as a translation of life. He tells a story of a parallel world in which shapes, colors and vocabulary transcend so that the paintings depict life, truth, love and beauty. The subjects of his work are inspired from everyday life, such as religious ceremonies and rituals as well as weddings. The way Omar perceives art enables him to paint with impartiality and love.

Omar participated in more than 30 exhibitions around the world, most of them were solo exhibitions. His work was displayed in Khartoum, Ethiopia, Kenya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Europe.

The works of Omar Kamal are acquired in many countries around the world, such as the USA, Australia, Canada, UAE Africa.

“I draw things relating to Sudan because I feel very connected to my roots and I feel like the Sudanese way of life is something that can be adapted to the whole world with positive outcomes. I try my best to create an environment for myself where the community helps each other. People who wear a Sideri or a Toub don’t wear it to represent their country but because it is a part of their identity. Our identity as Sudanese people is difficult to portray to others, and it is a core mission for me to show our identity as Sudanese people in my own way.”
